The Great North Wood gave the Norwood area its name. The vast, natural oak forest covered four miles of South London to the outskirts of Croydon. Wealthy Victorians would travel from the city to holiday in Norwood, considered one of the healthiest parts of London for its clean air straight from the South Coast. They would bathe in the healing waters at the natural Beulah Spa and built many of the enormous villas found here as second homes. Today the air is still just as fresh due to the elevated geography and plethora of green open spaces.

South Norwood is the cousin of Upper Norwood; nearby Crystal Palace with its famous park, bars, boutiques and restaurants and stunning views across the City of London; and West Norwood which now hosts the foodies favourite, the monthly West Norwood Feast. Crystal Palace football club has its home at Selhurst Park, and the area is well served with local stores, supermarkets and the easily accessible retail hubs of Croydon and Bromley. Not forgetting the new Croydon Westfield shopping centre with a tentative opening date for late 2019.

South Norwood and Norwood Junction are bustling and diverse places to live, with superb fast transport links to London Bridge and London Victoria (20 minutes), Clapham Junction, Dalston Junction and Shepherds Bush. Road links are also excellent to the South Coast and M25.

Just round the corner is newly refurbished South Norwood Leisure Centre and for those who enjoy fresh air exercise, the 125-acre South Norwood Country Park and South Norwood Lakes, used by Croydon Sailing Club are within walking distance from Enmore Mews. The local Ashburton Park regularly hosts fairs and events in the summer months, such as the annual South Norwood Arts Festival (snaf).

The novelist Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle once lived in South Norwood and referenced the area in at least two of his Sherlock Holmes novels. Sir Winston Churchill visited the local Conservative Club in 1912.

Enmore Mews is located on Enmore Road a short walk from Norwood Junction Station, with regular services to Victoria and London Bridge. Clapham Junction, Canary Wharf and Kings Cross St Pancras are all within 25 to 45 minutes journey time on the train. By car, Enmore Road can be reached via South Norwood Hill/Portland Road when travelling from the north, south or east. From the west/Selhurst Road, Tennison Road leads to Enmore Road.
